Designed to bring the latest concepts of al-fresco entertaining to classic country design, the Homestead is a spacious and functional home which remains true to its farmhouse origins while incorporating the best of the new.
The wide and handsome look of the home is the Australian Farmhouse epitomized, with exposed rafter tails, timber posts and a bull-nose verandah. Yet just off the separate main entry area, accessed by double doors from the verandah, is a modern theatre lounge. Likewise, the three guest or children’s bedrooms, which can be enclosed from the body of the house to form a separate wing should privacy or quiet be a goal, have an attendant activity room. This area could also be easily furnished as a study or sitting room.
The core of the home is the central free form living area, which flows into the al-fresco area, under the main roof to the rear of the home. The kitchen, as with many Rural Building Company designs, is intended to allow the chef to be part of the social group, not divorced from proceedings, and the island bench will prove a focal point for smaller gatherings, or the family "cuppa".
Ideally suited to country blocks, especially when building with an eye to a rear view, the free-form living and al-fresco area of the Homestead will suit the Australian lifestyle on any large block.
