The Somerset was inspired by early Australian architecture borrowed from the memories of English settlers. The Somerset could equally be at home in its name-sake County or the rolling hills of York, Western Australia.
The unique feature of this home is its multi faceted elevation with its feature gables which looks very impressive. This is very much a characteristic of early Australian architecture. The home has been embraced by a verandah, protecting the house from the summer sun and leading to the entry.
Quite easily positioned on a corner block or large open site, it provides a unique point of access into the foyer. This leads into a vast living space; almost the full width of the home and providing an outlook to the garden or the views beyond. Although these living areas interrelate, we have still provided very private wings for the master suite and other bedrooms. The galley kitchen with its walk-in pantry is the core of the living area and faces directly onto the protected alfresco. It also breaks up the family space and dining with the way it has been integrated into the home. On one side screened from the dining is the purpose designed home theatre while at the other end, screened from the family is a separate media room.
The bedrooms are grouped around an internet or study space. All the bedrooms will accommodate queen sized beds and cabinets. The laundry, bath and toilet have been positioned for easy access from the outside. This area also incorporates a large walk-in linen storage.
The generous master suite will easily accommodate a king size bed, dressing table and sitting area. Of course the master suite has its own walk-in robe and ensuite with separate toilet. On the other side of the master suite is a separate study and library space. This can have access direct off the entry foyer is one is running a business from home.
